Jeremy and Brandy Jenkins

It is almost impossible to find words big enough for a loss like this.

Jeremy Shane Jenkins and his loving wife Brandy Renee Travelstead Jenkins passed away together on Saturday, August 15, 2026, leaving behind a family, community, and countless people whose lives are better just because they were a part of them.

Jeremy was born December 11, 1974, in Palestine, Texas, to Wyley Jenkins and Cindy Penland; and Brandy was born November 24, 1979, in Mexia, Texas, to Greg Travelstead and Cindy Travelstead. Their individual stories became one when they met in 2002, working as servers in a Tyler, Texas, Mexican restaurant. From the moment they met, Jeremy knew that Brandy was the one. They wasted no time starting a life together, and they were married January 23, 2004.

Jeremy was a quiet and dedicated force of nature. His humor was unmatched, and his laughter was infectious. His dry wit and wry smile often indicated mischief or, at the very least, that a smart remark was coming. He was always steady, loyal, hardworking, and fiercely devoted to the people he loved. He was, at his core, a coach. It was not simply how he provided for his family; it was in his DNA. He had a gift for seeing potential in people and expecting them to see it in themselves. He understood that coaching young men was about far more than the game they were playing. It was about discipline, accountability, character, perseverance, and becoming the kind of man others could depend on. Over the years, the players he coached became part of the much larger family Jeremy and Brandy created wherever life took them.

Brandy lit up every room she entered, whether it was her personality and beauty or actual sparkles she was wearing. She was vibrant, wildly intelligent, organized, and somehow capable of keeping up with the beautiful chaos that came with raising three boys, being the coach's wife, teaching, and living a life that rarely slowed down. She was the person who made things happen. She kept it all together, knew what everyone needed, and somehow got everyone where they were supposed to be. She packed and unpacked, decorated and redecorated, and somehow made it all look effortless. She made every holiday exactly how a holiday should. Cookies, cheeseballs, delicious food, and the greatest laugh imaginable. Beneath a flawless exterior was a woman who loved her people deeply. She showed love in countless ways, big and small, and made every single person she met feel like her best friend.

However, above every title they carried—coach, teacher, brother, sister, son, daughter, friend, and neighbor—the roles that mattered most were Mom and Dad.

Tyson, Gage, and Jake were the center of Jeremy's and Brandy's world. Their parents' love for them was unmistakable, and it does not end here. It will live on in the three young men they raised, and in every story, habit, lesson, joke, and piece of themselves they left with their boys.

Jeremy and Brandy were met in Heaven by their grandparents, their beloved dog Roxy, and their only daughter, Abigail. They are survived by their sons, Tyson, Gage, and Jake; parents, Wyley and Sharla Jenkins, Cindy Penland, Greg and Sherry Travelstead, and Cindy Travelstead; Jeremy's brothers, Greg and wife Carrie and Wyley and wife Georgie; sisters, Shari and husband Chance and Katie and husband Mitch; and Brandy's sister, Nicki and husband Mat. They are also survived by nephews Hunter and wife Joanna, Hayden, Matthew, Nathan, Wyatt, Miles, Noah, Hawkins, and Jett; nieces Ashton, Savannah and husband Sterling, Ellie, Ava, and Jillian; and a tremendous extended family of friends, relatives, coworkers, students, athletes, and people who loved them.

There will never be a way to adequately summarize two entire lives in a few paragraphs. Jeremy and Brandy were more than the way they left this world. They were the thousands of ordinary moments that came before it: the laughter, the ball games, the classrooms, the family get-togethers, the inside jokes, the friendships, the celebrations, the hard days they carried one another through, and the three boys they loved beyond measure. They lived together, grew up together, and they built a beautiful family together. They made an impact far beyond what they probably realized. They will be missed beyond what words can say.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugarland, Texas. Please join us as we honor the lives of Brandy and Jeremy and find comfort together in faith, love, and community.
