Gregory (Greg) Neil Fuller was born October 29, 1951, to Gayle D. Fuller and Shelia (Leamy) Fuller in Falfurrias, Texas. He passed away June 22, 2026, in Sugar Land, Texas with his wife Cindy by his side. He was 74. Greg was a 1969 graduate of Wharton High School. He attended Wharton County Junior College for 3 years and was a bareback rider on the rodeo team. When his friends transferred to Sam Houston State University, Greg decided to transfer as well. He graduated from Sam Houston in December 1974, with a degree in Agriculture Science. Later in his adulthood, he attended Prairie View A&M and received a special education certification. On June 7, 1975, he married the love of his life, Cynthia (Cindy) Mayes. Together they spent 51 years of marriage. Greg and Cindy had two children, Cory and Holly.
Greg was best described as a “jack of all trades.” Greg has had several occupations, including at the early age of 14 as an associate at Dairy Queen. He was a carpet installer, fence builder, service technician at Copeland’s Texaco, an adult social worker and a rice agronomist at Ring-a-Round. Greg then became an agriculture mechanics teacher and special education teacher at several school districts in the area. He retired in 2011 after 31 years of teaching. Even after retirement, Greg was a substitute teacher for the East Bernard school district and was very well known by the East Bernard community as a ticket taker for all EBISD athletic events. During retirement, he became a perfectionist at canning pickles and jelly making. He and Cindy also made homemade strudels together for friends and family during the winter months. Greg’s passion for cooking started back in college, when he cooked dinner for his roommates and then spent his life always cooking for his family. Greg also was skilled at building and fixing anything. He always had a passion for anything baseball and coached many years of East Bernard Little League when his son played. He also spent countless hours practicing baseball with his grandson, Blaiden. During the summer of Covid, he even installed a batting cage for his grandson. Greg shared a love of hunting and fishing with Cory and Blaiden as well. He was a proud officer of the Sons of American Legion Post 226. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of East Bernard.
Greg was a passionate family man. He enjoyed going on cruises and trips to Lake Charles with Cindy and friends. He enjoyed supporting Cory and Holly in their sports and other achievements. He was a wonderful and supportive grandfather to Lilly, Karlee and Blaiden. He attended all their extracurricular activities and sporting events.
Greg attended school in Pearsall, Texas with George Strait and would always brag about how they were going to form a band together and become famous. Greg would always love to tell that story to anyone who would listen.
Greg was proceeded in death by his parents, Gayle and Shelia Fuller, in-laws Michael and Pearl Mayes, sister Teresa (Fuller) Martin, brother-in-law, Jeffrey Mayes and his son, Cory Fuller. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Fuller, his daughter Holly (Brian) Beck of East Bernard, his grandchildren Lilly Fuller of Nixon, Texas, Karlee and Blaiden Beck of East Bernard, niece Tifni Chase of Katy, nephew Russell Mayes of East Bernard and Daughter in law Angie Medina of Nixon, Texas.
Arrangements have been made through Stone Creek Funeral Home in East Bernard, Texas. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at The First United Methodist Church in East Bernard, Texas, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm. Reception will follow the service at The First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Hudgins, Robert Hlavinka, Austin Logan, Scott Krivacka, Johnnie Reznicek, Dennis White, Glen Blahuta, Mike Eder, Leslie “Pal” Samohyl, Pat Peloquin, Sons of American Legion and in loving memory of the late David Stelzel.
